In a bid to compete for advertising dolloars with Google and Yahoo, Mcrosoft will launch adCenter sometime in June 2006. The system will eventually offer companies a way to purchase online advertising in it's products ranging from its blooging platform to the new Office Live system that offers business software and services online.
The services which are currently being provided by Overture, have been in testing since spring of 2005. The adCenter services will be available when the contract expires with Overture in June.

Google is now offering a free website analytics service called Google Analytics which helps marketers and webmasters determine which keywords attract the most desirable prospects, which advertising content pulls in the most responses from site visitors and which entry pages and content generate the most income.
Google claims that the features in Google Analytics is as sophisticate as those in higher end analytics programs costing many dollars. The service which provides integration with Google Adwords will also provide analytical data and reports for non-Adwords campaigns.

JONESBOROUGH, TN - The Internet is saving time and money and adding convenience for lawyers, real estate agents and title company representatives who perform title searches on property recorded in the Washington Co., TN County Register of Deeds Office.
Funding for the online title service comes from a $2 data processing fee implemented by the Tennessee General Assembly on July 1, 1998. The fee is collected on each property transfer recorded in all 95 counties in Tennessee.

Days after Google acted to thwart the Sanity worm, security firms warned that variants have begun to spread using both Google and other search engines.
The Santy problem originally flared up a week ago as bulletin board Web sites found their pages erased and defaced by the worm's own text. The worm spread by targeting pages that used vulnerable versions of the PHP Bulletin Board (phpBB) software, and used Google to locate those pages.

KNOXVILLE -- Books in the University of Tennessee library system will be more visible to those searching the Internet, thanks to two new projects by the search engine Google. UT libraries dean Barbara Dewey said Wednesday that one project is the Google Scholar service. When a user searches for a topic, a list of books and scholarly journals relating to that topic is generated. The user can then input their zip code and see if any of those books are geographically close to them. The search results will show any related materials in the UT Libraries collections.

The 12-foot-long X-43-A supersonic combustion ramjet -- or scramjet -- flew on its own power for just ten seconds yesterday after separating from a booster rocket, but it was enough to excite researchers.

Stiff competition may be on the way for Google. Microsoft will offer consumers an early look at its technology for searching the internet beginning Thursday. The software giant has offered a search engine on its MSN website for a long time, but the technology behind it has been powered by subsidiaries of Yahoo!

Google has launched a beta version of Google Print, a search tool that enables users to search the full text of books, read excepts, and links them to sites where the books can be purchased. Google says the intent is to help users "discover books," not read them online.

CEO David Dorman said last month he would stop trying to attract subscribers in Ohio, Missouri, Washington, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas and New Hampshire after rules that gave AT&T discounted access to the local market came unraveled. Tennessee lost between $436.3 million and $454.7 million in Internet sales taxes in 2003, an amount that University of Tennessee (UT) researchers estimate could grow up to close to $1 billion by 2008.
In a report released Thursday, Dr. William Fox, director for the UT Center for Business and Economic Research, and research assistant professor Dr. Donald Bruce found that by 2008 Tennessee could lose between $612.5 million and $957.9 million in state and local revenue losses from e-commerce.
